Writing covering letters for a temporary Christmas job with the big companies?

Sal asked: I need some temporary work over the Christmas period as im planning on going to Canada to work, leaving in February.
I know all the big companies and supermarkets hire seasonal workers and when they dont have application forms they ask for CV’s. I need to accompany the CV with a covering letter.
